1) Email Marketing

It is NOT dead..yet. Email marketing can help you get leads, grow brand awareness etc. People tend to forget that email marketing plays a vital role in Digital Marketing- it is often social media that is given credit.
In a recent survey conducted by Demand Metric and the Data & Marketing Association (DMA), it was concluded that email marketing’s ROI  was four times higher than the other marketing channels which were analyzed. Those channels included paid search, direct mail, and social media.

I like to use MailChimp and Constant Contact for sending bulk emails.

2) Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

Search engine optimization is a “must” for every startup. It does not only help increase traffic but it also builds trust. Make your website mobile friendly to attract more customers. Ensure all pages of your website are working fine. Never forget to decorate these with proper tags (alt tags), descriptions (meta) or headlines (h1,h2 etc.).

3) Number of followers do not matter

Followers can be fake or bought.Social media is not about the number of followers but about their engagement. I often hear startups or entrepreneurs saying they have 50,000 Facebook fans or 50,000 Instagram followers or 50,000 LinkedIn contacts and so on. Then, I asked them how many bought their products and they answered me 0. Is that good? I don’t think so.

Try to create engaging posts. Social media is a way for you to build your brand’s voice. You should not only post regularly, but there should be a uniformed identity to your posts. Additionally, do not over post or deviate from your brand’s message. Choose specific timing when your audience is most engaging. Try using RivalIQ as it compares your profile with competitors and analyses the best time to post.

Buffer App reports that the optimal number of posts to Facebook is between five and 10 times a week, Twitter is five tweets a day and LinkedIn and Google+ tied for one time a day.

4) Google Adwords : Pay-per-click advertising

Almost every other form of marketing has some amount of lead time before you start seeing results. With PPC you can see enquiries and sales within hours. No waiting for your SEO to kick in and give you visibility, no waiting for a customer to open a newspaper! However, if you want to choose a very specific keyword to show your website on search engines at ALL times- you have to make sure to get a very high Ad Score.

5) Content is the KING

Content marketing is one of the most overlooked investments in launching a startup.

Why is content so important? It is the vehicle for conveying your brand’s message. If your content isn’t clear and the messages are not formulated well, you’ll undoubtedly struggle to communicate with your targeted audience. Somebody said that the content is the reason the search started.

Finally, don’t feel discouraged if you aren’t seeing conversions right away. Even if you are doing everything right with the above points, the most important thing is to build trust with your targeted consumers – and this takes time. Get their interest right now, and watch for more sales down the road.
